The present project is focused on the investigation of social intelligence in the context of perception, communication, and interaction between humans and artificial intelligence. Electrophysiological measures will be used to obtain insights into neural processing taking place in humans during these situations. The overarching goal of the project is to integrate the gained knowledge into the development and programming of artificial intelligence. By understanding the neural basis of social perception and interaction, specific approaches can be developed to adapt the behavior of robots and thereby enable, for example, increased perceived trustworthiness of the robot or facilitated interaction between humans and robots.
