SCIoI co-organizing summer school on sensory neuroscience – Neurobridge 2025 in Pisa
How does the brain make sense of the world through sight, touch, and motion, and what happens when these signals conflict or align? The 2025 Summer School Sensory Neuroscience – Neurobridge takes participants into the heart of these questions, offering practical and theoretical training in how the brain integrates sensory inputs to shape perception and behavior.
Jointly organized by the University of Pisa, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Science of Intelligence (SCIoI), this initiative is part of the NEUROBRIDGE project, supported by the European university alliance Circle U. Taking place from 3–9 September 2025 in Pisa, Italy, the program reflects a growing emphasis on cross-institutional, cross-disciplinary training in the neurosciences.
A Focus on multisensory integration and cognitive neuroscience
NEUROBRIDGE 2025 centers on the mechanisms of (multi)sensory-motor integration, providing participants with a deeper understanding of how the brain processes and combines information from various sensory streams. The curriculum is anchored in key disciplines (neuroscience, neurophysiology, psychophysics, and psychology) and places strong emphasis on hands-on engagement with the tools of the trade.
The academic program is led by SCIoI PI Martin Rolfs and Paola Binda from the University of Pisa, whose research spans perception, attention, and active sensing. Their complementary expertise brings together computational and experimental perspectives, offering students a well-rounded introduction to the field.
