Nicolas Spatola joined SCIoI as a postdoctoral researcher in October 2019, working on the project From understanding learners’ adaptive motivation and emotion to designing social learning companions under the supervision of Prof. Rebecca Lazarides. His research interests include cognitive psychology, linguistics, social robotics, and human-machine interaction.

At SCIoI, his research focused on questions at the intersection of human cognition and interaction with artificial systems, with particular attention to how people perceive, interpret, and respond to robotic agents.
