Preparing for our Summer School

How do I get to the SCIoI Summer School?

The best way to get to the SCIoI Summer School is to travel to Berlin via train or plane, and then take public transportation to the S-Bahn station Tiergarten. We encourage our applicants to arrive to SCIoI by public transportation on August 20, between 3 and 6pm, in order to check in at B&B Hotel Berlin-Tiergarten at Englische Str. 1-4 , 10587 Berlin.

How much does it cost to participate?

Attendance is free for all accepted participants, and accommodation and food is covered by SCIoI. We offer travel grants ranging from €200 to €400 depending on the location of the grant receiver. We expect to award up to €200 for applicants coming from within Germany, up to €400 for those living in Europe, and up to €1000 for applicants traveling from outside Europe. To receive a travel grant, you will need to hand in all relevant receipts before the summer school takes place. Note that we will only be able to reimburse 2nd class train tickets, or economy class tickets in case of travel by airplane.

What skills or prior experience should I have in order to participate?

You should be a PhD student or PostDoc, or have written a Master’s thesis in one of the SCIoI disciplines, and have basic Python programming skills.

Can you help me get a Visa?
