In the fourth instalment of the “Science for Fiction” series, Emma Braslavsky reads from her novel “Ich bin dein Mensch” (I’m Your Man).

The renowned couples therapist Dr Alma Felser is convinced that love can only exist between real human beings and rejects the idea of love involving Hubots (humanoid robots). When she undertakes an extraordinary experiment and orders an android perfectly tailored to her preferences, she finds herself struggling with her own ideals.

How much science is actually behind science fiction? How close is it to what technology can already achieve today? And what constitutes genuine understanding, as opposed to perfect simulation?

Together with you, Emma Braslavsky, and Anna Lena Lange and Vito Mengers, both members of the Cluster of Excellence Science of Intelligence, we would like to explore these and other questions following the reading.

This event is part of Wissen zwischen Büchern and will take place in German.
