SUMMARY:The 18th International Conference on the Simulation of Adaptive Behavior (SAB 2026)
DESCRIPTION:The 18th International Conference on the Simulation of Adaptive Behavior (SAB 2026) brings together researchers from artificial intelligence\, robotics\, neuroscience\, psychology\, behavioral biology\, artificial life\, control theory\, and related disciplines to explore the principles underlying adaptive behavior in natural and artificial systems. \nOrganized by Science of Intelligence together with the International Society for Adaptive Behavior\, the conference focuses on understanding how animals and synthetic agents adapt\, learn\, and survive in uncertain environments. \nSAB 2026 particularly encourages interdisciplinary research connecting biological behavior with synthetic systems such as robots\, simulations\, and computational models. Special attention is given to work combining insights from neuroscience\, ethology\, machine learning\, robotics\, and cognitive science to better understand intelligent behavior across species and systems. \nThe conference follows a single-track format to foster exchange across disciplines and create opportunities for close scientific discussion and collaboration. \nTopics include\n\nAdaptive behavior in animals and artificial agents\nRobotics and embodied intelligence\nArtificial intelligence and machine learning\nCollective behavior and swarm intelligence\nNeuroscience and cognitive modeling\nEvolutionary and behavioral biology\nComputational and mathematical models of behavior\n\nImportant dates\nSubmission deadline: 15 May 2026\nNotification of acceptance: 19 June 2026\nCamera-ready papers due: 17 July 2026\nConference dates: 19–22 October 2026 \nFor any questions or requests send an e-mail to organisers@sab-conference.org or visit the official conference website. \nRegistration and fees\nRegistration will open on 19 June.

SUMMARY:SCIoI at Zeiss Großplanetarium: Between Glances – The Hidden Dynamics of Vision
DESCRIPTION:Vision is a highly dynamic process. With every movement of our eyes\, perception shifts: attention moves ahead\, visual information is enhanced or suppressed\, and our impressions are continuously reconstructed. The fact that we nevertheless experience the world as stable is one of the brain’s most remarkable achievements. \nIn the immersive setting of the planetarium dome\, SCIoI PI Martin Rolfs and alumna Nina Hanning will bring these hidden dynamics of vision to life on an entirely new scale. We invite the audience to take part in a live experiment in which cutting-edge research is experienced together. \nSpeakers\nMartin Rolfs\nProfessor of General Psychology: Active Perception and Cognition at the Department of Psychology\, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin\, and Principal Investigator at the Cluster of Excellence Science of Intelligence. \nNina Hanning\nHead of the FreeView Research Group at the Department of Psychology\, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin\, and alumna of the Cluster of Excellence Science of Intelligence. \nModerator\nDr. Jochen Müller \nAbout Berlin Brains\nBerlin Brains is a joint event series organized by Urania Berlin\, Stiftung Planetarium Berlin\, the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Berlin\, the Einstein Center for Neurosciences Berlin\, the NeuroCure and Science of Intelligence Clusters of Excellence\, the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute\, the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association\, Collaborative Research Centre SFB 1315\, Collaborative Research Centre Transregio TRR 295 ReTune\, and Collaborative Research Centre TRR 384 IN-CODE. \nAdmission is free. Tickets can be booked online through Urania Berlin. Please collect your complimentary tickets from the evening box office by 7:15 p.m. \nImage: ©Designed by Freepik

SUMMARY:SCIoI at the Berlin Clusters of Excellence Science Slam 2026
DESCRIPTION:As part of Berlin Science Week\, Science of Intelligence will once again join the Berlin Clusters of Excellence Science Slam on 6 November 2026. This much-loved tradition\, hosted by Berlin’s seven Clusters of Excellence (SCIoI\, MATH+\, UniSysCat\, SCRIPTS\, Neurocure\, Temporal Communities\, Matters of Activity) transforms complex research into lively and entertaining performances. \nRepresenting SCIoI\, Oussama Zenkri will take the stage with his talk:\n“Artificial Intelligence: Now With Vision\, Language\, and Absolutely No Clue.” \nIn just six fast-paced minutes\, he will explore what today’s AI systems can see and say—and what they still fail to understand. Expect humor\, sharp insights\, and creative science communication as researchers from Berlin’s Clusters of Excellence compete for the audience’s vote. \nAt the end of the evening\, the audience will decide which slammer takes home the title. \nStay tuned for more infos! \n
