SUMMARY:Girls' Day
DESCRIPTION:What is intelligence\, and how can research help improve current technologies with new insights? At Girls’ Day with the Cluster of Excellence Science of Intelligence\, you’ll discover how scientists from many different disciplines explore the topic of intelligence. \nYou’ll paint pictures with your eyes\, play with a robot\, learn how to teach robots new skills\, program your own code\, and catch a virtual school of fish! \nThis way\, you’ll be right in the middle of the action\, exploring alongside researchers how intelligence can be understood from different perspectives. Experience firsthand how intelligent robots work and the diverse approaches scientists use to study intelligence. \nTo take part in our program\, you should be between 10 and 15 years old. \n

SUMMARY:Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften 2026\, Excellent Pub Quiz
DESCRIPTION:Join the “Excellent Pub Quiz” at the Long Night of the Sciences 2026! \nBack by popular demand: team up with your friends (2–4 people)\, come up with a fun team name\, and put your knowledge to the test at the Excellent Pub Quiz hosted by Berlin’s nine Clusters of Excellence at HU Berlin. Exciting prizes await! \nGet ready for a quiz night like no other — with brain-tickling questions from across the Clusters’ diverse research areas: chiral electronics (Center for Chiral Electronics)\, early disease detection (ImmunoPreCept) applied mathematics (MATH+)\, intelligent systems (Science of Intelligence)\, sustainable chemistry (UniSysCat)\, political theory (SCRIPTS)\, material innovation (Matters of Activity)\, brain science (NeuroCure)\, and global literature (Temporal Communities). There’s something for every kind of science fan! \nThe quiz will be held in two rounds (in German)\, each lasting about an hour and featuring different questions inspired by current research. Join one or both — the choice is yours! \nSchedule\n19:30–20:30 PM: On-site registration 1\n20:30–21:30 PM: Round 1\n21:00–22:00 PM: On-site registration 2\n22:00–23:00 PM: Round 2 \nWhen: Saturday\, 6 June 2026\nWhere: Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin\, Unter den Linden 6\, 10117 Berlin\, Hauptgebäude\, 1. Obergeschoss\, Hörsaal 2097 \nNo need to register in advance – just arrive early to secure your spot. Last year\, over 120 participants across 28 teams battled it out for the top spots. This year\, too\, the top three teams will take home fantastic prizes courtesy of the Clusters of Excellence. \nTickets for the Long Night of the Sciences can be purchased here.

SUMMARY:Martin Korth (Universität Münster)\, “Five philosophical problems that most likely matter for the science of intelligence”
DESCRIPTION:Martin Korth studied chemistry\, philosophy\, literature\, history\, and psychology in Münster and Hagen. He earned doctorates in theoretical chemistry and philosophy. Postdoctoral fellowships took him to Prague\, Cambridge (UK)\, and the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Mülheim. He then served as a Juniorprofessor for theoretical chemistry at the University of Ulm. He founded a startup in the field of artificial intelligence for electrochemical energy storage. He is currently the scientific director of the IT Department of the Natural Sciences at the University of Münster. \nImage created with DALL.E by Maria Ott.

SUMMARY:The 18th International Conference on the Simulation of Adaptive Behavior (SAB 2026)
DESCRIPTION:The 18th International Conference on the Simulation of Adaptive Behavior (SAB 2026) brings together researchers from artificial intelligence\, robotics\, neuroscience\, psychology\, behavioral biology\, artificial life\, control theory\, and related disciplines to explore the principles underlying adaptive behavior in natural and artificial systems. \nOrganized by Science of Intelligence together with the International Society for Adaptive Behavior\, the conference focuses on understanding how animals and synthetic agents adapt\, learn\, and survive in uncertain environments. \nSAB 2026 particularly encourages interdisciplinary research connecting biological behavior with synthetic systems such as robots\, simulations\, and computational models. Special attention is given to work combining insights from neuroscience\, ethology\, machine learning\, robotics\, and cognitive science to better understand intelligent behavior across species and systems. \nThe conference follows a single-track format to foster exchange across disciplines and create opportunities for close scientific discussion and collaboration. \nTopics include\n\nAdaptive behavior in animals and artificial agents\nRobotics and embodied intelligence\nArtificial intelligence and machine learning\nCollective behavior and swarm intelligence\nNeuroscience and cognitive modeling\nEvolutionary and behavioral biology\nComputational and mathematical models of behavior\n\nImportant dates\nSubmission deadline: 15 May 2026\nNotification of acceptance: 19 June 2026\nCamera-ready papers due: 17 July 2026\nConference dates: 19–22 October 2026 \nFor any questions or requests send an e-mail to organisers@sab-conference.org or visit the official conference website. \nRegistration and fees\nRegistration will open on 19 June.
