Science of Intelligence

NEWS: Looking back at SCIoI’s Berlin Science Week Events

If you’ve never been to the Berlin Science Week… well, that should certainly change! This 10-day mix of activities and celebrations puts science in the spotlight in many different ways, ranging from serious scientific discussions to quizzes, slams, workshops, and various combos of art and science.
This past Berlin Science Week was SCIoI’s third (and the first all-in-person one,) with three packed events at various locations around town. Our talk at the Naturkundemuseum, with Dafna Burema, Mattis Jacobs, and Jonas Frenkel, brought up topics like deep fakes and face recognition, as well as their ethical implications. Our CollActive material workshop walked people through a fun speculation about possible futures and intelligent materials. And what better way to end any Berlin Science Week than with an inter-cluster Science Slam? Our doctoral candidate Benny Lang used stand-up comedy to talk about the search for intelligence, with digressions about climate change and evolution.
